The guardian spirit of the Malan Flower, Malang, accidentally rescued Wang Lao, who had fallen off a cliff while collecting herbs on the mountain. The Vine Monster, who had long coveted the Malan Flower, exploited Dalan's vanity, stole the flower, and intended to dominate Malanshan.
