Supermodel Gisele Bündchen and Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady both have divorce attorneys on staff, NBC News reported on Tuesday. The appointments might portend the demise of their well-known union.
Brady, a quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Bündchen, a prominent figure in Brazilian fashion, have been married since early 2009 and have two children, aged 12 and 9.
Brady also shares a 15-year-old son with actor Bridget Moynahan from a previous relationship.
The 45-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl champion Brady first declared his retirement this year, but he later changed his mind.
Brady's continued football career had already been hinted to by Bündchen, who is not happy about it.
Gisele recently told Elle magazine, "Obviously, I have my concerns - this is a pretty brutal sport, and I have my children, and I would like him to be more present.
"I've absolutely discussed such topics with him numerous times. But in the end, I believe that everyone needs to choose a course of action that suits them. He too must follow his joy.
In August, Brady missed 11 days of the Bucs' training camp due to "personal things," according to the team.
Upon being questioned by reporters over his absence, Brady stated: "Man, I'm 45 years old. There is a lot of sh***t going on."
By his high standards, Brady's season has gotten off to a sluggish start. Through four games, he has passed for 1,058 yards and six touchdowns, which rank eighth and tenth highest in the league, respectively.
This year, Brady was listed as the ninth-highest-paid athlete in the world by Forbes.
