After the two stars were romantically linked during the production of Mission: Impossible 7 in 2020, Hayley clarified the situation of her connection with Tom Cruise in an interview with The Independent on July 8. Hayley clarified that they are not a couple and referred to Tom as her "uncle."
According to her, "I'd be like, 'Ooh, there's some weird rumors, and it feels base, a little dirty, a little grubby, and it's not what I'm about," she added in the interview. "Why are things about my interactions with my coworkers and boss being assumed or projected onto me?"

Hayley and Tom were reported to be dating while they were filming their action movie in 2020, but they never officially denied it. After learning of their breakup in June 2022, Hayley began dating actor and musician Ned Wolfgang Kelly.
Ned proposed to her in April 2023. On June 26, Hayley and Tom reconnected amicably at the Mission: Impossible 7 premiere in Dubai. Tom leaned in to kiss Hayley on the cheek as the co-stars hugged each other, which means that they are still great friends and this rumours.
