How the She-Hulk cameo involving Megan Thee Stallion took place.
The third episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law brings a different kind of guest star—superstar rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who plays herself—in contrast to the superhero appearances that have become the Marvel standard.
When Dennis Bukowski makes an appearance, Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters (also known as She-Hulk), a fellow attorney and Jennifer Walters' (aka She-Hulk) rival, is suing an Asgardian shapeshifter for damages after she assumed the persona of Megan Thee Stallion and pretended to be his girlfriend, hustling him for almost $200,000. The real rapper then appears in court, employs She-Hulk as her own attorney, and the two dance it out in the episode's post-credit scene.
So how did that famous moment happen? All of this can be attributed to Jameela Jamil, who started dating Megan after the two of them collaborated on HBO Max's Legendary.
At the show's Hollywood debut on August 15, Jamil revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, "I was planning to come and do this when I was filming Legendary season two, and I just asked her and she turned out to be a huge Marvel fan." She's brilliant at everything, so I just had a hunch she'd be a fantastic actor, and she did not disappoint. She brings out a quality in Tatiana that no one has ever seen before—Tatiana has moves—and I could not have been more pleased or in awe of her. It is absurd.
The actress, who performs the role of the super-powered influencer evil Titania in the series, said of Megan, "She's just one of the highlights of the whole show for me." I've been getting the question, "What's your favorite thing about the show? Since it hasn't been released, I haven't been able to confirm, but it's Megan.
When the crew started scripting the episode, according to head writer and executive producer Jessica Gao, they only knew "we wanted a famous, successful and gorgeous woman" and went through numerous options before Jamil offered Megan.
We said, "OK, that's it, we're done, there's nobody else," as soon as she brought her up. We'll do whatever it takes to make it happen if she's prepared to do it,'" Gao recalled.
"How fantastic is that tag, she looks incredible on camera, she's so cute, and she was having so much fun." The twerking sequence was added by the EP. "Tatiana stated that she believes it to be the most significant sequence in the MCU, and I concur with her; it truly is. The MCU's most significant scene is this one.
Although everyone was thrilled that the rapper would be appearing on the show, director and fellow EP Kat Coiro claimed that Maslany was particularly delighted and the team catered to her fandom: “We really added that dancing moment at the last minute to make some of her wishes come true.”
