A live-action movie based on the recognizable Mattel doll "Barbie" is one of the more mysterious yet intriguing ideas that is soon to be released. The movie is directed by Greta Gerwig ("Little Women"), and it has a screenplay co-written by Noah Baumbach ("Marriage Story"). It also features a strong cast, headlined by Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. And according to reports, Warner Bros. is hoping to reunite the two once more for an upcoming high-profile film.
Puck News' most recent email reveals that the actor has taken on an unnamed major role, and the studio hopes to reunite Robbie and Gosling for a "Ocean's Eleven" prequel (though the deal has apparently not officially closed yet). It was announced in May that Jay Roach, who previously collaborated with Robbie on the famous Fox News sexual harassment film, will be in charge of directing this 1960s-set "Ocean's" prequel. “bombshell”
Additionally, the budget is anticipated to be far higher than that of the other four movies (the exact amount isn't disclosed), which makes sense considering that the picture is set in the 1960s, which naturally makes it a more expensive production. As the director of the "Austin Powers" movies, Roach is no stranger to historical topics.
What remaining characters from the previous movies, if any, might be examined, is unknown. However, given their age, other people who might show there include younger incarnations of Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), Saul Bloom (Carl Reiner), and possibly Gaspar LeMarque, the superthief played by Albert Finney. LeMarque is known for his legendary heists and was undoubtedly a figure in the 1960s.
According to people familiar with the project, we have a ton of little previously unreported morsels about the background of this one's creation (s).
Unfortunately, director Steven Soderbergh was not involved in the process; however, this is probably because he had informed Warner Bros. that he was finished with this property (despite Don Cheadle saying earlier this year there might be some talk of another installment). It's conceivable that WB simply knew Soderbergh wasn't interested (for what it's worth, "Ocean's 8" director Gary Ross wasn't approached to participate either). What's noteworthy is that Roach appears to have come up with the idea for a "Ocean's" prequel before George Clooney and Grant Heslov, his longtime collaborator and co-producer at Smokehouse Pictures, did. Although it's unknown how far they got, this new version most likely makes their original plan irrelevant.
The casting of this new one doubles back on the prior one in a funny and hilarious way. Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence had been cast as the stars when "Ocean's 8" director Gary Ross originally had the idea for the film (remember, we broke the story back in the day). If he had waited for both of them to have open schedules, the shoot would have had to be postponed for more than a year, but this may have resulted in a franchise for the younger generation that lasted beyond one picture. Ross ultimately decided against waiting and chose Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett as the new "Danny and Rusty" co-leads. Speaking of, there was a lot of chatter about Matt Damon and George Clooney's characters making early appearances in "Ocean's 8," but both cameos ultimately fell through.
Although it's unclear when this movie will film, WB certainly likes what they have seen so far of "Barbie" if they want Gosling and Robbie back together. – Rodrigo Perez contributed more to this article.
