The next installment in the "Saw" horror series will soon start filming, and Lionsgate has set October 27, 2023 as the target release date.

The latest movie from Twisted Pictures, which hasn't yet been given a title, is being directed by Kevin Greutert, who also made "Saw IV" and "Saw: The Final Chapter." Greutert served as an editor on the first five films in the series as well as "Jigsaw" in 2017. He has been a part of the franchise since the beginning.

The movie's premise is a secret, but producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules promise plenty of gruesome and clever traps and a fresh mystery to unravel.

Burg and Koules said in a joint statement, "We have been listening to what the fans have been asking for and are hard at work planning a movie that 'Saw' connoisseurs and horror lovers alike will appreciate." Giving the directing duties to Kevin Greutert, who is still regarded as one of the series' top fans, is a part of that. Soon, more information will be made public.

The multi-billion dollar franchise's most recent feature film, "Spiral," starring Chris Rock, was released in 2021.
